"In terms of speaking to former presidents, I have spoken to all of them that are living obviously."

"I didn't want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any séances."

The background to this comment is that when Reagan was shot during an assassination attempt, that Nancy was so distraught after her husband was shot, she consulted with an astrologer to do anything she could avoid danger for her husband.

In reality it was some first ladies such as Mary Todd Lincoln to Hillary Clinton who has tried to make contact with figures from the past.  Obama has manipulated it into something else, which is nothing more than pure disrespect.

Nice comment considering she's recovering from a broken hip and slamming her that her husband, who was Republican, is dead.  Nice statement, making fun of a past presidents wife, and making fun of the dead.  How wonderfully respectful Obama is.  Pride, one of my favorite sins.

According to an Obama aide via Politico, Obama has called Nancy Reagan this afternoon to apologize for the statement.

"President-elect Barack Obama called Nancy Reagan today to apologize for the careless and off handed remark he made during today's press conference," said transition spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter.  "The President-elect express his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share and they had a warm conversation."

Obama is correct to make an apology to Nancy however, it just goes to show what kind of sense of humor this man has making fun of Nancy Reagan... a bad sense of humor.
